Welcome to the first symposium dedicated to Controlled Human Infection Studies in Brazil, coordinated by the Center for Vaccine Technology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (CTVacinas) and the University of Oxford to be held in Belo Horizonte on August 8-9, 2024.
Controlled Human Infection Studies, also known as Human Challenge Studies, are a widely used technique in developed countries to accelerate knowledge about an infectious disease and to accelerate the development of vaccines and treatments. They consist of the deliberate and controlled infection of healthy research participants. These procedures must follow rigorous technical, scientific, and ethical principles to safeguard the participant’s safety and promote considerable progress in knowledge and the development of solutions to public health problems.
The Symposium seeks to foster this debate among Brazilian scientists, bioethicists, and technicians, creating knowledge on the topic in Brazil. Brazil has assumed an important international position in biomedical research and needs tools to promote innovation.
If you are interested in the topic, do not miss it. This symposium will feature the presence of national and international leaders in clinical and biomedical research, bringing a high-level debate to our country.
